Are we there yet?
This morning for the first time in a long time I felt like I was taking my life into my hands by riding public transit. Is it right to be asking myself questions like: he will stop before we hit that pedestrian right? Or find myself going 'yahooo' as we careen around corners. Our bus driver was obviously in a hurry - he was almost 5 minutes early and hardly stopped long enough for everybody to get on the bus before peeling away from the curb. He raced up the street trying to get past the rest of the stops before anybody made it to them. Upon seeing a lineup at the lights he makes a hard right turn on the a side street to get around the traffic.
He wasn't the only one with this idea. After getting though an even longer line of traffic our driver was not about to let the black SVU cut him off. He came to a stop inches away from the side panel of the vehicle. The SVU driver must have had brass balls because he continued to push his way in front of the bus.
Approaching the yield, the bus driver noticed the light turning yellow, meaning he would have to yield if it turned red as traffic would start flowing on the street he was aiming to drive on. He picked up speed crossing three lanes as he moved onto the street in front of the University. Then there were cars in his lane. He switched back to the centre lane and realizing the reason those cars were stopped was there were pedestrians in the cross walk he slams on the breaks.
Past the cross walk, he speeds up again making it in front of the line of cars and into the left turn lane. He flew up to the final stop. I found myself thinking at least slow to 30 before asking us to get off. Pulls up opens the door  we all pile off the bus.
And he is gone again.
I'm awake now - I promise.
