Oh for the love of..
Work is going alright – ish, Len is finished in 15 shifts, he’ll be gone March 28th, and we have already begun the downward spiral into Gong Show. Where to begin – how about the new girl, which makes the one I was bitching about look like an employee of the month material. I’ve been training her and while she is really nice and I really like talking with her while we are on shift, she can’t type or answer phones. You think, seeing as our job consists entirely of typing and answering phones, they would have asked her on the interview – apparently not! To make matters better, we finally have the new system in a place where we can use it, *finally*. However it runs off the internet, which out here seems to be always not working. Great system; we just can’t use it.
Home life is going well too. I have come to the conclusion that my room-mate is morally inept. Her current guy has not only a girlfriend, but a child (whose mother is not his girlfriend). My room-mate is neither the girlfriend nor the mother and yet when I come home after work wanting to make dinner and curl up on the couch in front of the TV, I find it is already in use. The displays of affection I would usually find sweet I now find revolting… Maybe I’m the strange on – maybe that is normal; yeah that would also make her telling me that instead of teaching her dog to not eat underwear she stopped wearing it, normal.
My kitchen had been full of a fairly nasty smell lately, and it lingered long after I waded through *her* massive pile of dishes. The last straw for me was the fruit flies – I had already searched through all my cupboards and all the shared food cupboards – I started into her “random thing” cupboard. That’s where I found a bag of potatoes from last Aug. How do you forget potatoes for that long? It’s not like we have a big kitchen.
Good News though, my boyfriend is coming up to visit. I am so stoked. Someone who doesn’t find drinking and driving acceptable; someone who thinks drug usage is stupid; someone who believes sex should be with someone you care about (or at least with someone who is not in a relationship). Between him coming up and my getting to go to the city next weekend I feel like I have been given a Day Pass. I just got to make it to Monday.
Wrote the entrance for one of the J-Schools I applied to. I think I did okay – mind you there were some pretty tough questions: Who are your three favourite journalists and why? First of all how are you supposed to limit yourself to three and secondly how are they going to grade that?
Alright, short of some really great comments I have heard about current events, that is all that has happened to me in the last couple of days (I refuse to even mention my last time drinking at the ‘local dive’.). I would let you know those great comments from Rick Mercer and the rest of the stellar crew at the CBC but I had already typed them out once before my computer crashed... Maybe I will be motivated enough to do it again later.
