Roberta Bondar

So I got to meet one of my most significant "celebrity" role models on Friday night, Roberta Bondar, Canada's first female astronaut.
I, being the intreped reporter that I am, sat and watched her presentatiion, made a few notes for questions, then walked up to conduct my interview...
"Hi, My name is Angela, I am writer with the Carillion and I would like to ask you a few questions..."
I got out about 2 (exactly 41 seconds into the interview), before I found myself seconds away from crying. There was this horrible pause while she waited for the next questions and I scrambled to remember my own name. She asked me if I could read my writing, joking that I wasn't even a doctor.
Then I just sort of bubbled over, I told her I was in girl guides, she was my role model, I went into science...it just kept coming... It was one of the moments when I desperately wished I would shut up!
She gave me the biggest hug and told me we had to get our picture taken. So we did.
I can interview political leaders (Jack Layton, Ralph Goodale), the day before I was in a scrum after the budget was relased - I can get in there elbow to elbow and ask tough questions of nearly everybody and Dr. Bondar reduces me to tears...

*Sigh* At least I was memorable I guess....
